Bug Description

SharkBay(Desktop):
BIOS:HSWLPTU1.86C.0092.R02.1209220303
Kernel: 3.8.0-12-generic
OS: Ubuntu Raring Ringtail (development branch)

SharkBay(Mobile):
BIOS:HSWLPTU1.86C.0097.R00.1210222040
Kernel: 3.8.0-12-generic
OS: Ubuntu Raring Ringtail (development branch)

SharkBay-ULT:
BIOS: HSWLPTU1.86C.0087.R01.1208151750
CPU: Pre-release Intel MCP processor code named Hasswell M,(2+2) 2 cores,GT2,B0
Chipset :Lynx Point-LP A0(QDBY)
Baseboard: Intel ULT board code named Whitetip Mountain Fab 3.
Kernel: 3.8.0-12-generic
OS: Ubuntu Raring Ringtail (development branch)

Details:
whatever set the resolution by "xrandr -s [0..3]" or by the GUI to set the
resolution, the screen will become garbage screen. And the demsg will appear
"[drm:i915_hangcheck_hung] *ERROR* Hangcheck timer elapsed... GPU hung"

Reproducible: always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.login the system
2.set the resolution

Actual Results:
Garbage screen became.

Reason: It is the issue of xf86-video-intel package, upstream xf86-video-intel hasn't this issue. Both of them have a version of 2.21.4, I compared the source code of ubuntu 13.04 and upstream xf86-video-intel, they are the same. But the configure.ac files are different.

affects: ecryptfs → xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu)

when I run apport-collect 1156679 command, system report connection timeout error. I paste the i915_error_state and dmesg.
In demsg kernel set vga mode to 800X600 at 225.597737, then GPU hang at 233.865146

Hmm, looks like HSW reintroduced MI_LOAD_SCAN_LINES. Wonderful.

    sna: Haswell reintroduces MI_LOAD_SCAN_LINES

    Better late than never? Interestingly only available from the BLT ring,
    which makes accurate waiting for XVideo (which must use the render ring)
    impossible in the current form - we need to render to a temporary then
    do a vsynced blit in this case.
