This bug is still present in lxsession-default-apps 0.4.9.2+git20140410-0ubuntu1; at least setting Network GUI (which is unset by default) to nm-applet has no lasting effect.

This bug is still persistent, it seems to be related to particular packages that are installed as dependencies with other apps, I read somewhere that it was pycrust, what I've experienced is that lxsession-default-apps settings are ignored and everything located in /etc/xdg/autostart is loaded regardless of what is and isn't selected in lxsession-default-apps. The latest updates, at least for me, brought this bug out, for me it didn't exist until the updates.

~/.config/autostart is now completely ignored, everything located in /etc/xdg/autostart is loaded regardless of what is selected by the lxsession startup manger aka 'default applications of lxsession' the only solution is to add 'NotShowIn=LXDE;' to the text files located in /etc/xdg/autostart if these files are placed in ~/.config/autostart they are no adhered to by lxsession

This bug is still persistent, however it has changed from everything being ignored to some things being ignored. In otherwords, now some things that startup at login aren't even listed in the autostart dialog box, making it impossible to turn things off that you do not want to startup on login.

Ok after taking a closer look it seem that lxsession is not including etc/xdg/upstart as something it manages in the autostart tab. Things located in this directory needs to be altered manually at this point to keep things from starting up.
