[Needs packaging] Update request: Bugzilla version 3.0

When hardy is open it will probably be synced from debian.

Well, stable / testing / unstable of Debian all have Bugzilla 2.22 at the moment, not 3.0. So syncing from Debian won't help at this point.

Searching for "Debian Bugzilla 3.0" produces some mailing-list talk from June and July about 3.0 not being packaged yet, but no estimates of timescales for getting it done. It would be a shame if the next LTS version of Ubuntu did not have 3.0 on the basis of Debian not yet having it .....

Hardy has now been open for some time ... bugzilla in debian is still not on 3.0 in any version: http://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=bugzilla&searchon=names&suite=all&section=all

So, will 8.04 LTS ship with Bugzilla 2.22, which is already deprecated before 8.04 has even been shipped, according to the bugzilla site? From their release page, "2.22.3 is the old stable version of Bugzilla. If you are doing a new installation of Bugzilla, we recommend that you use the latest stable version instead of a 2.22 version" - http://www.bugzilla.org/download/

Given that 8.04 should last until 2013, surely it is important to ship a version which is at least current at the time of shipping!

The second of those suggests that maintainership of this debian package is up for grabs ... perhaps an ubuntu team member could step up?

I've been watching this too. hope someone can step up and nicely debianise bugzilla3.
