Bug Description

In my opinion, this is a very similar bug to

https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1395465

in the sense that the bluetooth indicator works but no external devices are detected.
I don't know which information I should provide here so I just insert uname -a and lsusb.

lsusb
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 13d3:3423 IMC Networks
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 05e3:0608 Genesys Logic, Inc. USB-2.0 4-Port HUB
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 04f2:b483 Chicony Electronics Co., Ltd
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

uname -a
Linux languasc-asus 3.16.0-30-generic #40-Ubuntu SMP Mon Jan 12 22:06:37 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Alessandro

Download 4 files to your home folder, then run

sudo dpkg -i linux*.deb

if you do not have other linux image files there.

Then TURN OFF your laptop (not just reboot), then turn on and test bluetooth.

Pilot6: thanks. I installed the files you prepared but

- bluetooth is disabled and indicator does not work

- if I try to enable bluetooth via the panel, i get this error message

Error: BrokenCount >0
This means that your installed packages have unmet dependencies

Did you try to enable bt not from the upper panel, but from System Parameters. Sometimes there is a trouble there, when you enable bt first time.

Where do you get that error message and when?

And also give output of

dmesg | egrep 'btusb | ath3k'

sorry; this is in fact what I meant:

I tried to enable bluetooth with the panel System/preferences/bluetooth (not with the indicator since I have no indicator);
so I switched to on the slider in the panel, and, immediately after this, I got the error message (in the notification panel).

I have no output for

dmesg | egrep 'btusb | ath3k'

Or try

sudo apt-get install -f

It seems that the official image is partially installed.

I'm sorry but I don't know how to remove all kernel image and headers of 3.16.9.-30.

Outputs:

{ USB_DEVICE(0x0489, 0xe078) }, -line 82

Can you help me or submit the patch yourself?

I cloned git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/bluetooth/bluetooth-next.git

Or everyone is talking about some else branch?

This bug is awaiting verification that the kernel in -proposed solves the problem. Please test the kernel and update this bug with the results. If the problem is solved, change the tag 'verification-needed-trusty' to 'verification-done-trusty'.

If verification is not done by 5 working days from today, this fix will be dropped from the source code, and this bug will be closed.
