Bug Description

When booting the 15.04 i386 server ISO in a VM, I used F4 at the boot menu to select a different keyboard layout (dvorak) than the default. Booting to the installer, the keyboard is still set to en_US. Attempting to select 'Configure keyboard' from the d-i main menu does not let me switch it to dvorak.

I've investigated this, "just" needs a rebuild of d-i with kdb-udeb; so that setupcon can run successfully (missing loadkeys). Will upload the fix in W; SRU to Vivid for the mini.iso afterwards.

Could it be related to #1450025 ?

Well, you're seeing similar issues, yes. The locale-chooser error causing the extra message still needs to get fixed though.

To test on trusty, I load a preseed which wait for input (a note template loaded by hands-off), this gives me the time to add a “set -x” on top of:

- /usr/share/console-setup/keyboard-configuration.config
- /usr/bin/localchooser

In the logs, I saw the debug of localchooser, as reported in https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1450025, but no debug output for the keyboard-configuration.config.

This bug was fixed in the package debian-installer - 20101020ubuntu379

---------------
debian-installer (20101020ubuntu379) wily; urgency=medium

  [ dann frazier ]
  * arm64: Use mklibs instead of cargo-culting mklibs-copy. This
    currently reduces the initrd.gz by just under 1M and drops
    an unnecessary delta against Debian.
  * arm64: kernel and System.map aren't versioned, correct config.
    No functional change.
  * arm64: Stop calling "generic" a subarchitecture
  * arm64: Rename netboot/xgene -> netboot/xgene-uboot
  * Add device-tree medium infrastructure (from Debian)
  * arm64: Enable device-tree medium
  * arm64/xgene-uboot: apm-mustang.dtb is now in the device-tree directory,
    so we can drop it from the xgene-uboot directory.
  * arm64: Create a netboot tarball
  * arm64: Add netboot mini.iso
  * arm64: Build cdrom medium
  * arm64/netboot: Add a grub/efi build for netboot
  * grub-gencfg: Use --- as linux separator

  [ Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre ]
  * Add kbd-udeb alongside console-setup-udeb; since the latter requires
    loadkeys and such to be available to properly apply keymap selection, so
    we key the right keymap in the installer. (LP: #1447802)
