Bug Description

Test Case
---------
0) Ensure partner is enabled (via /etc/apt/sources.list or software-properties)
1) Launch Software Center
2) Filter All Software to "Canonical Partner"
3) Observe no packages

To verify the fix you'll need to install the app-install-data-partner package from proposed, run apt-get update, and then /usr/sbin/update-apt-xapian-index. After that you'll see packages in step 3.

Package contains channel apt source for 13.04 Raring for all releases since then.

/usr/share/app-install/channels/raring-partner.list:

# channel for the raring (13.04) partner channel
#
#:description:This channel contains the partner software for raring
deb http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu raring partner

E.g. on 15.10:
$ apt-cache policy app-install-data-partner
app-install-data-partner:
  Installed: 13.04
  Candidate: 13.04

From what I can tell software-center uses the app-install-data-partner information but even after updating the package and installing it I don't see any partner packages in software-center. Do you happen to have any ideas about that?

I have no idea what its supposed to point to - I only found it in a roundabout way due to reading the man-page of apturl and investigating the repo path examples it gives.

Well, its an obvious fix so I'll just upload to Xenial and worry about a test case and the SRU later.

Well, now after reinstalling the 16.04 version of the package I do see items listed when I filter by Canonical Partners in software-center. I'll build it for Vivid and try it there.

Come to find out I'd added partner to my /etc/apt/sources.list file and that's why it was showing up in software center.

It seems something isn't reading the partner list provided by app-install-data-partner and putting it /var/lib/apt/lists ...

Testing this in a stable release without a fix there is no problem and the packages in the partner archive are visible. So unless there is some compelling evidence of something being broken, this doesn't seem worth an SRU.
