Bug Description

Searching with the keyword "money" should return the money-related applications. It only returns KMyMoney and the rest are games.
If you search with "cash" your result is GnuCash and Grisbi.
I believe "money" should be a search keyword for GnuCash and Grisbi applications too!

When you search for a keyword, it searches the description the package too.

For example:
tank-battling game
Atomic tanks is a multi-player game in which you attempt to destroy
other tanks while trying to protect your own. You earn money for
destroying other tanks; with this money you can buy upgrades and better
weapons for your tank.

Maybe there should be tags which could be looked up when searched for.

correct, that would make the searching much easier than it is

sorry to post again, but your idea for tagging packages is brilliant, it could be added as a blueprint, couldn't it?

There are already debtags. Perhaps we will include them in the future. But it seems that the description of the corresponding packages are weak.

I also think that this would be nice to update the description in order to contain the word money. This would be easier to find. I set importance of this bug to wishlist.

KMyMoney's description doesn't contain "money" in its description either, except in its name and in a reference to MS-Money... and I cannott find a proper description for grisbi where "money" would fit. Does anyone has a suggestion?

How about "currencies" -> "money currencies" or "expenditure" ->
"money expenditure"? It doesn't have to make 100% sense :)

"
Grisbi is a personal accounting program. Grisbi can manage multiple
accounts, money currencies and users. It manages third party, expenditure
and receipt categories, as well as budgetary lines, financial years,
and other informations that makes it adapted for both personal
 and associative accounting.
"

By the way, I think this is fixed with xapian search and debtags. I
think they are used in newer versions of apt-get / aptitude:
http://debtags.alioth.debian.org/
http://debtags.alioth.debian.org/edit.html?pkg=grisbi

Try http://debtags.alioth.debian.org/ssearch.html and look for
"money". Grisbi is in the results!
Can someone with karmic 9.10 execute "aptitude search money" and
"apt-get search money" to check it out?

Both sound too strange to me.

What about:

"
Grisbi is a personal accounting program. Grisbi can handle multiple
accounts, currencies and users. It helps you manage your money using
third party, expenditure and receipt categories, as well as budgetary
lines, financial years, and other informations that makes it adapted
for both personal and associative accounting.

Indeed, that seems to be the "modern" way.

Currently, in my karmic cowbuilder chroot, with debtags installed:

 * "aptitude search money" returns only kmymoney
 * "apt-get search" doesn't exist
 * "apt-cache search money" returns what is reported in the initial
   bugreport
 * "aptitude search '?tag(money)'" returns nothing
 * "aptitude search '?tag(finance)'" returns a lot of things, including
   gnucash, kmymoney and grisbi

Cheers,

Looks fine to me!

I just tested it too, you're right. Only "debtags smartsearch money"
works for now:
