Bug Description

=== SRU Justification ===

[Impact]
On new Intel SoC, blacklisting intel-lpss or noapic is needed to make
system boot. Touchpad doesn't work as a side effect.

[Fix]
Write-comining doesn't work for intel-lpss, force it to use uncachable
memory region.

[Test]
User confirmed with the patch series the noapic or blacklisting
intel-lpss can be removed. System boot with a working touchpad.

[Regression Potenial]
Low. Tested on several older Intel laptops, still work without any
issue.

=== Original Bug Report ===

I run Ubuntu 19.04 on Dell inspiron 7000 2-in-1.

After a fresh install the touchpad doesn't work, the touchscreen doesn't work, when the laptop doesn't recover after a suspend to RAM, it boots only with noapic option. The laptop is very recent, I think the hardware is not supported well. But I would like your advice, perhaps I can do something to get a working setup.

I forgot to add something potentially important - this used to work until a few days ago. I don't know which update exactly broke things, since usually I use a mouse and I simply didn't notice right away. I updated via the software center pop-up so there could be even more delay.

I went back to older kernels and it does not work anymore (5.2.9 and 5.3.0-18 - 5.3.0-22). On 18.04.3 LTS in a live session the touchpad works, while the touchscreen doesn't.

OK. thx. could you tell me the version of the kernel with which the touchpad works ? I tried the 18.04.3LTS live USB and I didn't get the touchpad working.

The 5.3 version seems to have everything working, thanks! The only thing I notice now is that each time I plug it into my thunderbolt monitor I have to reauthorize the peripherals. Maybe that's expected?

Ok I got this sorted out and turns out it was my fault. A few weeks ago, when I was struggling to boot Ubuntu at all, I blacklisted intel_lpss_pci. It turned out that a BIOS update fixed the boot issue but I completely forgot about the blacklisted module... No idea why things worked later on and then suddenly stopped but removing the blacklist fixed everything.
