Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubuntu-docs

The text of section 8.1 is incorrect.
1. If I press Ctrl+V in Firefox, mark some other text and press the middle button, the marked text is pasted, not the copied one.
2. The right mouse button does not cause xterm to show a context menu.

TerryG: Thanks, this bug is already in the right place.

The first issue still needs fixing.

I don't think we need to worry about the second issue - if people are using non-default terminal emulators then they can worry about that, documenting each terminal emulator would make the document unwieldy.

Certainly; but a word of warning that other emulators may behave differently would not harm.

Comments, please?

I do not like the last sentence.
+ NB: these actions may mean something entirely different to some other terminal emulator.
+ Consult the your emulator's documentation for details.

I have no objection to that. Unfortunately bzr won't allow me to make a new diff, so to whoever commits the patch: Please take into consideration the two lines added by Christopher.

Hi Mads,

Thanks for the patch. I've reviewed it, and there were a couple of spelling/grammar typos:

 * "Rick Click" => "right click" (typo, plus no need for capitals)
 * "Middle Button Click on your mouse" => "click the middle button on your mouse"
 # "also simply mark" => "also mark"
 # "Internet Browser" => "web browser"
 # "may or may not work" => "may not work"

The ones marked with a "#" instead of a "*" are nitpicks, and so are so trivially minor that you can probably happily ignore them.

BTW, why won't bzr let you make a new diff?

Here is a debdiff that includes Christopher's and Phil's suggestions. It also fixes a very small typo in the serverguide (LP: #285892)

You can have "to some other emulator", "to a few other emulators" or just "to other emulators". You cannot have "to some other emulators", those things are countable.

Here is the corrected version. As already mentioned, it also contains a small bugfix for bug #285484.

Can this merged into the ubuntu-docs bzr branch so we can get it from there?

Daniel, do you mean I should register a new branch at https://code.launchpad.net/ubuntu-doc, then branch the one for Jaunty (https://code.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-core-doc/ubuntu-doc/ubuntu-jaunty), change the code and propose it for merging into the one I branched from?

Matthew East (mdke) wrote :

Martin - you don't need to make a formal merge proposal, it's sufficient to attach the patch to the bug report as you have done.

I've applied your patch with two changes:

1. "make" -> "select" (I think you must have meant "mark" here, but "select" is a better term)
2. Instead of "NB" I've used the <note> tag, which is appropriate for such statements.

For future submissions it's not necessary to make a new changelog entry, we tend to bunch a whole lot of changes together with ubuntu-docs package releases so these will all go in the changelog entry together.

Thanks for the contribution.
