Bug Description

Binary package hint: sendemail

There appears to be a problem with sendEmail 1.55-1 in Gutsy. Every time I try to use it with a script I have (that works fine on my Dapper box with sendEmail 1.52-3) it fails. I also tried running it manually from the command line but either way it fails with "535 Incorrect authentication data". I copied the sendEmail 1.52 binary from my Dapper box to my Gutsy box and used the same command and it worked fine.

I can confirm this problem. It fails when using TLS as well with the exact same error message.

Try running with a debug level of 1 or more and attach a log file here. The options to be used are:

-v (debug level 1)
-vv (debug level 2)
-vvv (debug level 3)
-l LOGFILE

The error message is not from sendEmail itself, but SMPT, it usually indicates a wrong SMTP username/password. Can you try to use the -o option to set the SMTP username/password instead of -xu/-xp?

Can't do much without the required information but likely to be an user's error.
