The initial gnome screen shows the former Ubuntu release (22.04) - should show 22.10

It does not sound like this is an ubuntu-release-upgrader bug, but I can help you find the right package. Which screen are you referring to exactly? A screenshot would help if possible.

They initial login screen for userid/password.

Has the leaping deer (antilope?) On it.
Will have to use my phone to take a pic when I get home.

Thanks, I think this is the unity-greeter package.

Updated for the current serie now, closing for Kinetic that it doesn't make much sense to fix it there at this point

This bug was fixed in the package unity-greeter - 23.10.1-0ubuntu1
