Bug Description

Binary package hint: nautilus

Hi!

I use a lot the sftp://something function in nautilus. Apparently nautilus reads the file ~/.ssh/config which is good. But in my case I'm using a ssh key pair to connect to my desktop computers from my laptop. Nautilus doesn't read all parameters, more concretely nautilus seems to ignore the parameter "User".

Let's give an example ~/.ssh/config:
Host desktop
User murdok
HostName 192.168.7.28
--eof--

If I type sftp://murdok@desktop it works perfectly. Instead, if I type sftp://desktop (as if I did $ sftp desktop in a console), a popup windows asks me for the user/password.

It's not the expected behaviour and it's becoming a bit annoying for me.
Thanks to the developers! If more information is need or I didn't explain it well, just ask me.

thank you for your bug report, that seems to be an upstream issue, could you open it on bugzilla.gnome.org directly where the people writting the code will read it and add a bug watch to this bug on launchpad?

could you also not specify the version you are using the title, you made it look like the issue was hardy specific were intrepid has the same bug for example, you can use the description to give details on the used version

Okay I have taken note of all those 'could you...' for the next time.
I had never used the 'watch' function!

It seems like https://bugs.launchpad.net/gvfs/+bug/224118 might be related to this. Not sure if this is fixed yet, but gvfs-sftp/ssh doesn't seem to use settings and keys from ~/.ssh
