Bug Description

Binary package hint: landscape-client

If a system with landscape-client installed is upgraded to intrepid, the landscape-client package is not replaced by the intrepid version because it has a lower version number.

Currently, for example, hardy and all the others before it have landscape-client 1.0.22, while intrepid is at 1.0.21.x.

Thanks for your report.

Can you please provide the output of "apt-cache policy landscape-client" on one of your system before intrepid.

The current versions of landscape-client are:
landscape-client | 0.1 | dapper | source, all
landscape-client | 0.1 | feisty | source, all
landscape-client | 0.1 | gutsy | source, all
landscape-client | 0.1 | hardy | source, all
landscape-client | 1.0.21.1-0ubuntu2 | intrepid | source, all

Thanks in advance.

Andreas, sorry for my previous post,
I was dealing with hardy to intrepid bug reports and didn't pay attention to who had filled this report. However filling report against package in Ubuntu for version not yet in Ubuntu may be a little bit confusing for triagers.

Could it be possible to release 1.0.23 in intrepid and use 1.0.22.X for the clients in dapper, feisty, gutsy and hardy ?

Yeah, we might do this, or release 1.1.x for intrepid and leave everything else at 1.0. I'll have to figure it out by the end of today, so I'm accepting this ticket

We are fixing this in landscape-client by adopting the following versioning scheme:

landscape-client-<version>-0ubuntu0.<distro>

For example:

hardy: landscape-client-1.0.23-0ubuntu0.8.04
dapper: landscape-client-1.0.23-0ubuntu0.6.04

and so on.

If there is a packaging change, then we bump the release number in this way:

landscape-client-1.0.23-0ubuntu0.8.04.1
landscape-client-1.0.23-0ubuntu0.8.04.2

and so on.
