This bug was fixed in the package gnome-applets - 2.27.4-0ubuntu1

---------------
gnome-applets (2.27.4-0ubuntu1) karmic; urgency=low

  * New upstream version (LP: #406768):
    - General:
      + Clean up GTK_ includes (Luis Menina).
      + Fix the NetworkManager autoconf script (Callum McKenzie).
    - Invest Applet:
      + Allow the user to add their own labels as well as the ticker
        symbol (Enrico Minack).
      + Fix a crasher (Enrico Minack) (LP: #280993).
      + Make the selction of stocks nicer (Enrico Minack).
      + Select the newly added stock for editing (Enrico Minack).
    - Stickynotes:
      + Only save when we need to, not repeatedly (Callum McKenzie).
    - Trash Applet:
      + Move markup out of the translatable strings.
  * debian/rules:
    - Disable battstatus applet (see discussion at
      https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-desktop/2009-August/ \
      002183.html)
  * debian/control:
    - Bump libxklavier-dev build-dep to 4.0.
    - Remove build-dep on libpolkit-gnome-dev and change libpolkit-dev
      build-dep to libpolkit-gobject-1-dev (>= 0.92).
    - gnome-applets recommends policykit-1-gnome rather than
      policykit-gnome.
    - Don't build-depend on libhal-dev, libapm-dev or liboobs-dev.
  * Dropped debian/patches/01_distclean.patch - merged upstream.
  * debian/patches/85_polkit1.patch:
    - Port cpufreq-selector to polkit-1 (patch from GNOME Bug #585307).
  * debian/patches/86_deprecate_battstatus.patch,
    debian/patches/87_deprecate_modemlights.patch:
    - Correctly deprecate the battstatus and modemlights applets by
      making them Null applets to not break panel config's on upgrade.
  * debian/gnome-applets.gconf-defaults:
    - Remove obsolete default.
  * Refreshed patches:
    - 09_modemlights_use_new_gst.patch
    - 98_autoreconf.patch
  * debian/patches/81_silent_applet_cleaning:
    - Make sure that the deprecated applets are still cleaned from the
      panel config, and silence a compiler warning.
  * Dropped obsolete patches:
    - 09_modemlights_use_new_gst.patch (modemlights will no longer be
      built).
    - 13_battstat_measuring_more_appropriate.patch
    - 14_battstat_enable_pmi.patch
