  * Merge from debian unstable, remaining changes (LP: #299353):
    - Remove icons and depend on libkipi-common, now co-installable
      with libkipi5.

Hi,

The last upload of kdegraphics removed libkipi-common.

Thanks,

Hi James,

I can't quite figure out exactly what to do. Should the dependency on libkipi-common be removed?

Thanks.

Hi,

If the package doesn't exist then you can't depend on it. You need to work
out whether you should instead depend on something else, or back-out the
change.

In this case it is depending on a -common package to get the icons. The
-common package was removed with the icons going back in to the other
lib package. It seems wrong to have one SONAME of a lib depend on a later
one, so I think this package should just be changed to carry the icons again.

You would need to check if this changes co-installability of the lib packages
though.

Thanks,

James

Hi,

You may also want to investigate whether this package should still be
in Ubuntu. When a later SONAME package exists the older one should
eventually be removed. If there are packages depending on this one
then moving them to the new version needs to be investigated.

Thanks,

James

Hi,

After discussing this issue with a few people we decided to make the
package depend on libkipi5. I'm uploading a package to do this now.

Thanks for your work on this,

James

This bug was fixed in the package libkipi - 0.1.6-2ubuntu1

---------------
libkipi (0.1.6-2ubuntu1) jaunty; urgency=low

  * Merge from Debian (LP: #299353)
  * Change the dependency on libkipi-common to libkipi5, as the former has
gone away, and the latter now contains the icons.
    - While the solution is not that nice it allows installability of the
KDE3 packages that depend on this library on a KDE4 system, which is
      important for Kubuntu.
    - This package should be going away this cycle as the transition to
      KDE4 continues.
