Thank you for taking the time to make Ubuntu better. What you are reporting here isn't really a bug with hdparm, but more like an enhancement request to provide more info to people including links to the project. The brainstorm page is a great place to make suggestions, and will allow for your idea be discussed, voted on, and reviewed by developers.
