netcfg/dhcp_timeout doesn't take effect when installing

Bug Description

When installing the latest daily current image for Hardy, 20090108.2, I have a preseed file which specifies:

  d-i netcfg/dhcp_timeout string 120

When attempting to negotiate an IP address with the DHCP server during the early stages of installation, the timeout seems to be much shorter. It barely waits 10 seconds when reaching 50% of the timeout, so it seems that even the default timeout of 60 seconds is not even respected.

This bug was fixed in the package netcfg - 1.56ubuntu1

---------------
netcfg (1.56ubuntu1) natty; urgency=low

  * Resynchronise with Debian. Remaining changes:
    - Set default hostname to 'ubuntu'.
    - Drop priority of netcfg/get_domain to medium for non-static
      configurations.
    - Use 'auto <interface>' for all interfaces, dropping allow-hotplug
which doesn't work with current udev.
    - Call /usr/lib/network-manager/ifblacklist_migrate.sh from
finish-install if present, so that 'auto dhcp' interfaces are disabled
if network-manager is in use. May be preseeded away with
      netcfg/network-manager.
    - Bump the DHCP timeout to 30 seconds.
