Binary package hint: kq

kq (and kq-data) packages are severely out of date.

Download page shows that the last stable update is from Feb 2, 2008. Yet, the last update in the repositories is from March of 2007. Please package the latest version of this game.

The problem is that Allegro debian team (the guys that build the package for debian) doesn't release a new version. Therefore, as Ubuntu merge its repository to debian, we cannot have an updated version of the package.

Even if someone in ubuntu updates this package, we can not have it in karmic (next version) because the new stream process has finished and only bugs fix releases are allowed. Maybe in lucid (10.04).

Anyway I have packaged the game with CVS code on 21th Sep 2009, I do not know if the code was stable in that date, but I have it installed in my computer and at least nothing seems broken (I haven't got sound in my computer so sound has not been tested).

Looks like new code was uploaded to the KQ site in mid-December 2009. Please update the packages.

It seems it contained some undistributable content, see http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=575739 for details. Though, if that issue was resolved it could be repackaged in (Debian and) Ubuntu.
