Bug Description

$ sudo dpkg --configure --pending
Setting up python-gobject (2.16.1-0ubuntu1) ...
Package python2.6 is trying to overwrite gtk-2.0/gobject/_gobject.so which is already provided by python-gobject-dbg
dpkg: error processing python-gobject (--configure):
 subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of python-gobject-dbg:
 python-gobject-dbg depends on python-gobject (= 2.16.1-0ubuntu1); however:
  Package python-gobject is not configured yet.
dpkg: error processing python-gobject-dbg (--configure):
 dependency problems - leaving unconfigured

both python2.6 and dpkg are up to date. any clues?

I'm closing the dpkg task, this is looks strongly like a python-support problem.

This bug was fixed in the package pygobject - 2.16.1-0ubuntu2

---------------
pygobject (2.16.1-0ubuntu2) jaunty; urgency=low

  * Remove explicit dependencies on python2.5.
  * Rename -dbg extensions for python2.6 as well. LP: #333557.
