Bug Description

(March 2, 2006) After doing a dist-upgrade on Dapper flight 4, the floppy module is no langer loaded at boot, and no /dev/fd0 is created. In addition (perhaps a seperate bug), the fstab suddenly contains 9 entries for fd0, each mounting at /media/floppy[0-8] respectively. I have since deleted those entries, otherwise I would post them.

Please let me know if you need any more information.

Whoops...the update was done on March 1, 2006. I looked at the wrong date.

Confirmed, since upgrading to kernel ABI 16, pcspkr is not loaded any more, too.

According to Scott, this is due to /sys/bus/pnp/devices being empty now. Older kernels showed a dozen or so devices, and this is why pcspkr, floppy, etc. aren't loaded automatically any more.
