Bug Description

When I plug my Canon 350D (Digital Rebel XT) into USB port, a message "Would you like to import photos?" appears, but nothing really happens. When I try to do it manually from Gthumb, ite tells me that drivers cannot be found, though libgphoto is present in the system (2.1.6-1ubuntu6).

Hmm, in #2767 you stated that the import itself works. So is there a regression from an earlier version, did you try this on another computer, or what changed?

Please install the "gphoto2" package from universe, do

  gphoto2 --auto-detect --debug 2> gphoto2-autodetect.log

and attach gphoto2-autodetect.log here. Thanks!

I'm not sure the Rebel XT is supported by 2.1.6 as Canon PTP implementation is buggy...

Hubert, this is not funny! :)

GPhoto 2.1.6 worked Just Fine (tm) with my Rebel XT on Fedora Core 4. I could choose images by their thumbnails and import them.

When I run suggested command, it initializes the camera about 3 minutes and then outputs:

avp@traveller:~$ gphoto2 -L
