This patch fixes the problem. Sorry if I didn't do it correctly, I've never done a patch like this before.

patch looks good. I've committed it upstream (on sourceforge svn) . I'll try to get myself around to do a 0.4.1 maintenance release, but maybe ubuntu should just ship 0.4 with Matthew's patch applied.

i have applied the patch and build a test package in my ppa ( https://launchpad.net/~mtron/+archive/ppa/+packages ) . Seems to have fixed the bug for me. Could this patch be merged into the official package please?

According to this bug report, this package, which doesn't seem to have ever been accepted into Debian, has been usable in Ubuntu since at least 2009 (and probably 2008 when 0.4-0ubuntu1 was uploaded). No one is maintaining this package or taken an interest in fixing it in over a decade.

I am only seeing this bug report now because this package shows up as a reverse-dependency of gamin, which is obsolete and has now been removed from Debian unstable.

I am therefore removing this package from noble.

If there is a usable current upstream version of this software that doesn't require gamin, then any Ubuntu Developer is free to reintroduce it - but hopefully will only do so if they intend to subscribe to bugs for the package and maintain it over time.
