Bug Description

Binary package hint: empathy

Empathy should allow to use the latest status or custom message on startup.
Available is the default status on startup and we have to change it each time.

I would like it very much too. Since they changed default messenger from Pidgin to Empathy, I'd like to see this feature back.

is it a papercut?

Thank you for bringing this bug to our attention. However, a paper cut should be a small usability issue, in the default Ubuntu install, that affects many people and is quick and easy to fix. So this bug can't be addressed as part of this project.

- A feature request is not a papercut.
For further information about papercuts criteria, please read https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PaperCut.

Don't worry though, this bug has been marked as "Invalid" only in the papercuts project.

Never again?

Empathy works very nice! BUT,

I'm surprised about the lack of user settings Empathy provides! and I mean very IMPORTANT if Linux software wants to be a very nice alternative to Apple/Windows ones. We are talking about THE messaging software installed by default in Ubuntu and many other distributions.

No official themes support
no custom status on startup
no system startup! (one has to added it manually)
