Bug Description

Karmic Alpha4 still uses the Alsa backend for playing event sounds with libcanberra.

The problem is that we (the people that use ubuntu) get less features than other distro people.

For example:
http://0pointer.de/blog/projects/oh-nine-sixteen.html
"Surround Sound Support for Event Sounds"

https://tango.0pointer.de/pipermail/pulseaudio-discuss/2009-August/004720.html
"Hmm, Ubuntu didn't use the pa backend for libcanberra? Oh my!"

So it seems to be a really good idea to switch to the pa backend.

This bug was fixed in the package libcanberra - 0.15-0ubuntu2

---------------
libcanberra (0.15-0ubuntu2) karmic; urgency=low

  * debian/control: gnome-session-canberra should recommend libcanberra-pulse,
    to use pulseaudio as the sound backend for theme playback. (LP: #413567)
