Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-geode

I just upgraded my Koala install after about two weeks of not upgrading. As of the current version, the geode driver no longer works on the OLPC XO. I'm not entirely sure what's going on, but there may be some useful clues in the log that I've attached.

Oh, I guess that would be a good idea... :'}

Works.

Fails in the same way as the current version.

Ted, thanks for testing this.

There was only one change that could affect resolution detection between those two and it's easily reversed.

Ted, could you test 2.11.4.1-3~karmic1 from my PPA and confirm whether that fixes this issue or not?

Ted, could you try one more test for us?

Install the broken 2.11.4.1-2 package again, then run:

Xorg -verbose

This would give us a more complete log that we could use to try to fix the change that broke it, rather than simply reverse it.

Thanks!

This bug was fixed in the package xserver-xorg-video-geode - 2.11.6-1

---------------
xserver-xorg-video-geode (2.11.6-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * New upstream release:
    Revert "LX validate display modes" because it breaks detection of
    arbitrary non-VESA resolutions such as with the OLPC (LP: #433228).

xserver-xorg-video-geode (2.11.5-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * New upstream release:
    + Drop the following patches (merged upstream):
      0001-GX-refactor-code-that-allow-backward-compatibility-w.patch
      0002-LX-validate-display-modes.patch
    + Addition of LX display mode validation.
    + Plenty of documentation improvements.
    + Several minor fixes for GX2 support.
  * Updated the Homepage filed in debian/control.
