Binary package hint: update-notifier
I installed yesterday's Xubuntu daily live in a virtual machine for testing, and after the kernel update, update-notifier displays a dialog asking to reboot, but is unable to perform it, see attached screenshots.

Steps to Reproduce
1. Install xubuntu/boot xubuntu livecd
2. sudo /usr/share/
3. sudo apt-get update (to trigger the notification monitor)
4. poke the restart required circle in the notification area
5. select Restart Now and see the error message popup

This should be fixed in bzr by using hal if that is available for shutdown.
