Bug Description

if you hammer openct (e.g. some loop doing signatures), it will sometimes fail.
the reason was found, the bug is present in all versions of openct. it was fixed
in openct 0.6.8. if possible, fixed packages for dapper and maybe even breezy
would be nice. the fix is minimal and available as changeset 668 or online at
https://www.opensc-project.org/pipermail/opensc-commits/2006-June/005325.html

I reproduced this bug with ssh (with smart card support enabled) and
running an endless loop:
ssh-agent bash
ssh-add -s 0
#enter pin
while ssh aj@localhost /bin/true; do echo; done

without the bug fix it fails sooner or later (users report: far too often, it is real annoying,
most important if you have shell scripts with several ssh commands (or cvs commands
using ssh for smart card authentication), and somewhere in the middle it fails).

fixing this bug should be a dapper-updates task.

Thank you for your work on this bug. It has now been listed as "In Progress" for over 10 months, and there seems to have been no progress. I am setting to Confirmed to indicate that the bug has not been addressed (for Dapper). I am unsubscribing ubuntu-universe-sponsors, as the patch for this bug appears in bug 50393, rather than here. Please follow up with that bug to arrange a solution.

it is sad that noone can apply th egiven and working patch for dapper,
but that doesn't invalidate the bug.
