I have no idea why it crashed,

I did apt-get upgrade and then I loggged out and in again.

Actually - looking at the traceback.

File "/usr/bin/bootchart", line 20, in <module>
     from pybootchartgui.main import main
 ImportError: No module named pybootchartgui.main

It seems more like some of the files are missing. Can you try to reinstall pybootchartgui and see if it helps?
