What's the problem exactly? Please elaborate.

Did you get the "Chromium didn't shut down correctly" message on the startup after restarting / logging back in?

This means that chromium was still running at the time when /etc/init.d/sendsigs ran during shutdown, and that it doesn't react to SIGTERM. This slows down the shutdown, since it has to wait for the 10 second timeout until it gets SIGKILLed.

I've observed this in a Karmic virtual machine when the host machine is accessing the disk heavily. It looks like the cause is due to the shutdown being too slow. I filed a bug upstream: http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=39106

Seems to be fixed in 22.0 at least.

SIGHUP kills chromium-browser immediately. On restart, it starts fresh and without a warning about cleanup.

status: Confirmed → Fix Released
