Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubiquity

I cant find any reson why partitioner would take more then 30 minutes to start. Well it cant see all the partitions right. cfdisk works and so does

Could I have the full /var/log/partman, please? Feel free to compress it using gzip or whatever first.

Hello
Sorry for the delay . Ubuntu installer whiped my partition table, so i had alot of reinstalls(win and dapper).
(fixmbr or grub-install didnt help)
Hope this helps i included file you asked for + fdisk -l and the /var/log/ map too.

Weard thing is that :

partman log :

parted_server: OUT: 1 primary ntfs /dev/hda1
parted_server: OUT: 5 logical ext3 /dev/hda5
parted_server: OUT: 6 logical ntfs /dev/hda6
parted_server: OUT: 7 logical unknown /dev/hda7
parted_server: OUT: 8 logical unknown /dev/hda8
parted_server: OUT: -1 pri/log free /dev/hda-1

and new fdisk -l after repartining of disk from win :

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hda1 * 1 2550 20482843+ 7 HPFS/NTFS
/dev/hda2 2551 20022 140343840 f W95 Ext'd (LBA)
/dev/hda5 2551 3825 10241406 e W95 FAT16 (LBA)
/dev/hda6 3826 11474 61440561 7 HPFS/NTFS
/dev/hda7 11475 12111 5116671 e W95 FAT16 (LBA)
/dev/hda8 12112 20022 63545076 e W95 FAT16 (LBA)

reality :
/dev/hda1 NTFS
/dev/hda2 NO FILESYSTEM/NOT FORMATED (i ll install ubuntu there )
/dev/hda5 NTFS
/dev/hda6 NOT FORMATED
/dev/hda7 NOT FORMATED
/dev/hda8 NOT FORMATED

sorry there is no /dev/hda2 only 1 primary and the rest is on extended so /dev/hda5 is next in row.

It turns out that this is bug 58500. I'll mark this one as a duplicate, since the other contains more useful information. I'll have it fixed for the Edgy beta release.
