Original author names not kept in PO files

Bug Description

1 - Launch any GNOME application on Ubuntu 6.06 (Totem for example)
2 - Help->About->Credits, look at Translation author
3 - On a french desktop, it shows:

L'équipe française de traduction d'Ubuntu <email address hidden>, 2006

and not the original authors (see PO files in upstream).

mpt: just partly (i.e. solving that properly would only include Last-Translator from PO file, and add translators working through Rosetta: it would not keep existing contribution notice from upstream, unless made to do so).

Serbian translations show correctly all the upstream translators, simply because Serbian Ubuntu team didn't remove/change translation of that message. So, this is mainly a problem of Ubuntu French translator team which is simply overwriting the upstream credits.

We need to educate them that this is not a very nice thing to do. (btw, this is something to be handled by future Ubuntu Localisation Coordinator, imho)

Yes, it's related to <a href="https://launchpad.net/bugs/116">bug 116</a>.

I will send an email to the Ubuntu French translator team about this problem.

It's a special field in PO file and I think this spec is the right solution:
