Bug Description

Binary package hint: amarok

I am testing Edgy and have previously had an install of Amarok under Dapper. When I installed the Edgy version and ran it for the first time it took me through a First-run wizard. Since I've moved my music, I told it where the new library should be built from and when the application opened I found that it had not made the change and still had my old paths in there.

What needs to be done to force the first-run wizard to activate?

I suspect that removing your ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok folder would do the trick, but that would probably also cause you to lose ratings, playlists, podcasts, album covers, etc. Hopefully someone knows an easier way.

Haha, yeah, I guess I'd just think that removing that directory would also clear my old library path and then I wouldn't be able to confirm the bug ;-) Maybe the library path is stored outside of that directory . . .

It may be. I just moved that folder away from its original location and somehow amarok still knew where my music was. Strange...

I also just found out how to just run the first-run wizard: type `amarok --wizard` (without the quotes) into a terminal or an Alt+F2. Can you let us know if the bug still exists?

Just FYI: Amarok stores settings in two places:

~/.kde/share/config/amarokrc keeps where your collection is stored, media devices you have connected, and other such settings.

~/.kde/share/apps/amarok/ stores your collection database, album covers, podcasts, playlists, etc.

And did that bug still happen to you?

That's fine, I've just been way too busy at work (14 hour days) to
put any time into checking this out. Thanks for your hard work.
