Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubiquity

I was installing the 2006-9-12 Daily Live disk of Edgy Eft, and it crashed at about 80%. The installer progress bar said that it was Downloading Package lists, but I was not connected to the internet. This was on an IBM T41 laptop with Atheros wireless and ATI Radeon 7500 graphics.

Here is a link to all of the information requested by the installer (log files, etc): http://www.hoodidge.net/crash-ubiquity.1.1.14.tar.gz

I gave the install another go: but this time I changed two things (sorry, should have just changed one at a time).

1. I connected my ethernet cable, and got a connection
2. I upgraded Ubiquity to 1.1.16 using Synaptic on the Live CD

After these two changes, the install went smoothly. Unfortunately, I can't be sure which caused the original breakage. If it was just 1.1.14 causing the problem, then we can close the bug, but if it was the lack of a net connection, then it needs to stay open. Hopefully someone who can better understand the log files I attached will be able to make that decision.
