I'm not sure that this is a duplicate of #433087, because it is tagged hw-specific.
This report is generated by Apport that fail on detect a bug in update manager, crash, detect it's crash, crash, detect it's crash, crash, detect it's crash ond so on.

a simple apport-bug command line execution give the exceprion and call apport crash report.

Then every crash will expose the bug and the self bug call other apport crash report ind endless loop..

Watched several youtube videos then got multiple crashes
"applet.py closed unexpectedly" the automtically generated report gave the same title as this bug.

Tried linux maverick 2.6.35-6 with Firefox 3.6.7 and got similar error, "applet.py closed unexpectadly" with automatic title:
apport-gtk crashed with ImportError in <module>()
so the linux 2.6.35-7 doesn't seem to have brought the failure on.

situation with maverick updated:
- python-gobject 2.21.4-0ubuntu3 installed when it was updated
- on every boot the crash happened at the very beginning after the session is opened
- if the first crash popup is not closed by user, then multiple other crashes happened , flooding the systray

these errors are logged and are the first generating crashes:

so i doubt about python-gobject fix
