Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubuntu-netbook-efl-default-settings

The netbook-launcher-efl environment is not running the same as in Lucid. In Lucid, the launcher ran as a standalone environment with a modified top panel that included a home button for returning to the launcher. In Maverick, it is an app in the gnome desktop, with the standard gnome desktop menus and workspace panels (see attached screenshot).

several settings are missing, this needs a beta freeze exception and a properly configured package. milestoning for beta, setting to high since it breaks desktop usage massively.

Out of curiosity, are there any negative consequences of running the efl launcher as an app in gnome?
I'm wondering since I noticed that when I tried the desktop environment on 10.10 (after upgrading from 10.04 UNE) that maximus was running at startup, and that adding the window picker applet recreates the window management behaviour from 10.04. If I add netbook-launcher-efl to the startup programs, then I get something like the 2D netbook interface, except that it's fully customizable (for example, I can add CPU monitor and weather applets to the top panel, something I couldn't do in 10.04.)
