Bug Description

Binary package hint: synaptic

Add/Remove programs and Synaptic cannot resolve website names thus giving errors that cannot fetch data. They try to connect to 1.0.0.0 by default. This is how i had to correct this. In /etc/apt/sources.list i replaced all web addresses with respective ipv4 addresses. Now everything works fine. Even GAIM which was not connecting is now connecting after replacing ipv4 address in account settings. Even in Evolution it doesnt accept web address. however on providing ipv4 address it connects.
This is a very common problem as is evident from Forum views.
I have Ubuntu 6.06 dapper running on Intel Celeron 1.7 GHz CPU on 845 GLLY motherboard with 512 MB SDRam.

This bug seems to have nothing to do with fedora.

This looks like you have a problem with DNS.

I don't see this as a problem with synaptic as you say that GAIM has the same problem on your machine.
