Bug Description
When a new copy of Ubuntu is installed on a PC, it asks me to enter a username, password and retype the password to create a new user account. Noobish as I was, I entered "root" as username with a password and retyped the password. The installer accepted the username and password and went on.. until.. it was done installing. The bug reared it's ugly antennae when I entered the login screen and typed the username and password I had earlier created. It said that the root account was locked by default and that I had to login to a normal (non-root) user account. Now, I hadn't created any other user account during installation as the installer gladly accepted root as username. Stranded as I was, I had to re-install the operating system.
Windows seems to actually check user input in such situations.. and reports when I enter Administrator as the username for a new user account during the installation of XP. (Those five textboxes with the clippet-like coin asking me to enter the names of the users of this computer..)

Firstly, you might want to check out https:/ /help.ubuntu. com/community/ RootSudo
Also, you *do* need to create a root account, as that is what's used for the recovery mode.
