This bug was fixed in the package ubiquity - 2.3.11

---------------
ubiquity (2.3.11) maverick; urgency=low

  * Fix hostname error in KDE frontend (LP: #627489). Guard against
    invalid hostnames in the GTK frontend.
  * Create a new pipe for update-apt-cache.
