Binary package hint: update-manager
while following the instructions here (https:/
"A unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade.
Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the files in /var/log/
will attach the files if possible (where's the attachment functionality?).

the problem appears to be with the unofficial compiz packages.
recommend closing this bug, and sorry for not finding the duplicate earlier. didn't know what to look for.
