Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox

The firefox forms and buttons are ugly, please see image ff-bevore.jpg

It can be easily improved, example in ff-after.jpg

This can be done this way:

wget hhttp://users.tkk.fi/~otsaloma/art/firefox-form-widgets.tar.gz

tar xvfz firefox-form-widgets.tar.gz

sudo cp /usr/lib/firefox/res/forms.css /usr/lib/firefox/res/forms.css.bak

cat firefox-form-widgets/res/forms-extra.css | sudo tee --append /usr/lib/firefox/res/forms.css >> /dev/null

sudo cp -r firefox-form-widgets/res/form-widgets/ /usr/lib/firefox/res

rm -rf firefox-form-widgets*

I agree, the default forms are ugly. Although I'm not sure I can confirm this since this is more of a 'look' issue than of functionality.

I think it should be fixed if that's possible, no matter if it's named a bug or a look issue.

The changes mentioned in this bug are not likely to be applied, since AFAIK they are not W3C compliant.
But I have to agree that we have to come up with a solution to this problem, preferably by having native GTK widgets embed in Gecko.

having native GTK widget embed in Gecko sounds like a lot of work and much time required - is that right (I'm not familar with GTK widgets or Gecko at all).

if so, is there a workaround until work is done?

how do I undo this? the forms DO look much better, but it makes the webpages look unpolished.

I'd like to see this get fixed as well. Having to redo this "fix" everytime Firefox is updated is rather tedious.

I think this could probably be closed since I'm writing this from firefox-3.0 beta 4 in gutsy and I've got native Gtk+ widgets for my forms, and it IS beautiful.
