The Places and Applications tabs should cater for localized text longer than the English ones

Bug Description
Right now, when he or she goes to either Applications or Files & Folders, the user will be shown a search bar. Next to it, there are several tabs with the different categories of either applications or file types.
The width of the bar containing the several categories has been designed to fit the width of the category names only in English. Translations often need more space than the English strings, and we should cater for those.
The result of testing Unity in Catalan, German and Spanish shows that the translated messages for the categories fall out of the screen, making it impossible for the user to either see the last category, or to guess what it is.
