Bug Description

Binary package hint: roxterm

roxterm 1.18.5-1 fails to initialise multiple tabs correctly, causing resize problems which can make the window ridiculously large and therefore unusable. The widget for configuring the number of tabs to open is also faulty. There are more details in the Debian bug report.

The new upstream release has some new features, some of which were subject to waiting for work to be contributed by other volumnteers, so I backported the fix to create 1.18.5-2 which successfully entered testing recently. I believe it would be appropriate to include this version in Maverick.

New Changelog Entries:

roxterm (1.18.5-2) unstable; urgency=low

  * Backported fixes from forthcoming upstream release to fix problems with
    initialising and resizing multiple tabs (Closes: #592984).
  * Standards-Version: 3.9.1.

That sound like a bug fix. For Universe packages, release team approval isn't needed for that. Unsubscribing ubuntu-release and subscribing ubuntu-sponsors.

This doesn't build on maverick (and neither does 1.18.5-1):

roxterm.c:379: error: 'VteTerminal' has no member named 'column_count'
roxterm.c:380: error: 'VteTerminal' has no member named 'row_count'

Looks like we'll need a patch to support the new libvte.

The deprecation warnings erred slightly on the side of non-existence. Luckily it's easy to fix with a simple regex and the accessor functions are backwards compatible. Hopefully this will do the trick, but I haven't been able to test it against a new libvte with the members hidden. Add this patch with quilt after init_tabs.
