Bug Description

Binary package hint: anjuta

The anjuta project is part of Gnome and has as such released a new version of anjuta as part of gnome 2.32.
However, Ubuntu 10.10 still ships anjuta 2.30 for no apparent reason.
Before the final release, anjuta should be updated to 2.32 as it is part of Gnome 2.32.

It's a pity - the new anjuta has the vala plugin working.
Vala could boost GNOME, Ubuntu and the whole Linux development world If only there was a good IDE and modern language.
maybe It could be provided via backports/updates?

I tried to compile Anjuta 2.32 myself. It turns out that Anjuta depends on libgda-4.0 >= 4.1.6, which is an unstable version. Maverick ships with the stable version 4.0.9. This is probably the explanation. Still, I would like the new Anjuta version to be included in Maverick.

libgda 4.2.0 whitch is a stable release version of gda is out since the 26 september and can be found here :

Please, add anjuta 4.32 in maverick. We really need a vala IDE for Gnome and Ubuntu.
Delaying it for the next version of ubuntu would be really sad.

the maverick version will not be updated in a stable update but somebody could do a ppa build, note that anjuta was not updated during this cycle because there was some build issues in the new version and nobody is actively wanting to help maintaining anjuta in ubuntu, if somebody is interested by it though feel free to contact the desktop team about it

I think that I found bug in this source package. I compiled it today and install but it won't include anjuta-python-autocomplete.py in package. This file is in source package and it's required for code completing in python. When I copy this file to the /usr/lib/anjuta, code completing python starts working.
