C-Media 6501 onboard sound card don't work on edgy

Bug Description

Hello,

I try to install edgy on a Asrock motherboard (939 dual vsta amd 64) with an integred sound card C-MEDIA6501.

All is working fine but no sound...

I' Try to compil the system with alsa-driver but alsa can't locate any sound card on my system...

I' try to upgrade a working dapper desktop to an edgy, but the problem was the same. Sound was working on dapper and after upgrade it wasn't work !

I try to boot with older kernel-image (dapper one) on a edgy upgraded but it wasn't work to...

If it 's necessery to try the command "lscpi -vn" with the edgy configuration, say me that I will install it again on my computer instead of the dapper.

You can find the result for lsub -v here => http://pcsecure.eu.org/usbtest.txt

It's true, this onboard soundcard work as a usb device with the dapper distrib.
I read in a suze forum that the same onboard souncard have a usb detection on a suze distrib ... Very strange no ?

The problem is than it don't work at all on the Beta edgy 6.10 for the moment...

Do you think it would be ok in the futur ?

Hello!, i got the same problem, no sound with this hardware, its a USB device!,

Doing a lsusb i can see it

Bus 002 Device 002: ID 0d8c:0201 C-Media Electronics, Inc.

But no sound, im using Kubuntu 7.04, i got a Asus M2N-E SLI motherborad running a Amd Athlon Dual Core 2GHZ, hope to get a answer soon....
