Usage problems in install partitioner

Bug Description

Two things that bugged me when doing the Edgy Eft install. One is that when trying to create a new partition from my existing Dapper partition, the installer insisted on calling the to-be-created partition Partition #1 even though there was already a partition 1 (and 2 and 3 and 5) on the disk. I was nervous that it was going to overwrite my real hda1. This #x should be the number of the hdaX that is going to be added to the partition table.

The second thing is that before committing to the install, I went back to the partition page, and a gparted window popped up, then disappeared. Weird, but cosmetic. Not great to have cosmetic problems in the tool thats touching partitions.

Sorry, but what does the above have to do with upgrade-system?

Upgrade-system is an APT front-end; it is not the Ubuntu installer or one of its components.

I don't know where that came from. This problem can be seen in the "Install partitioner". I don't know what Ubuntu's internal names for their installer components are, and I can't get a list to try to change this hint.

Definitely not an upgrade-system bug. Leaving package name blank and subscribing ubuntu-installer as suggested by mdz.

Unfortunately gparted doesn't have quite enough information to work out what the new partition number is going to be. We may be able to do something about this when we replace gparted with another installer-time partitioner in Edgy+1.

The other bug is filed elsewhere already (don't have the number right now).

Does the partitioner still do this?
