Bug Description

system: cempedak.canonical.com
Natty version: Daily ISO 2010-11-16

Chuck Short and I were testing installing Natty (server) there -- installation stops with an error when looking for the network cards (no network card found).

This machine has 4 NetXtreme II cards:

02:00.0 0200: 14e4:1639 (rev 20)
02:00.1 0200: 14e4:1639 (rev 20)
03:00.0 0200: 14e4:1639 (rev 20)
03:00.1 0200: 14e4:1639 (rev 20)

lsmod shows bnx2 loaded.

The system is available for checking by the kernel team. Please ping me.

Tested today with kernel 2.6.37-5-generic #13-Ubuntu, still no network. Raising importance, this completely blocks testing with Natty.

bnx2 is indeed the correct module for this PCI device ID. 2.6.37-rc3 has just been uploaded (https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/2.6.37-6.17). If that continues to fail, then append your system information using 'apport-collect 676245'.

Tim -- for the record, there is no way to run apport-collect: this is an *install* from ISO on a remote system. All that is available is the serial console. Installation fails on network, and the only way to look at it is interrupting debian-installer (open a shell) and locally looking it up.

I can give you access to it (it's in one of the Canonical DCs).

Er. Small correction: it is a PXE-booted install from ISO.
