Bug Description

I am relatively new to Linux world, and this bug really turned me down. While installing Drapper Drake, using the ShipIt Live CD of Ubuntu, the PC stalls for no reason whatsoever. It hangs on 'in my case' at the second step of installation. "Where are you?" but after looking for help on forums, I realised that other users too are having problems with this. An alternative cd was suggested to install the OS but it is stupid if you dont have a CD-R. I hope, something is done about it!

Hello. Thanks for filing a bug. We will need some more data to be able to follow this up. Could you please attach /var/log/syslog and /var/log/partman to this bug? That would help us better identify the cause of the problem. Thanks!

This page contains detailed information on uploading log files: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingUbiquity/AttachingLogs (you will have to repeat the install attempt with the same Live CD to get them)

Changed in ubiquity:
status: Unconfirmed → Needs Info

Can you still operate the desktop after the installer hangs, or is the whole machine dead?
