Bug Description

Eclipse 3.2 has support for JUnit 4, which has been removed. While this may not work with GCJ, it does work with Sun's java. There is no clear way to install it optionally.

How can I install JUnit 4 support plugin in Eclipse once I have Sin's java running. Or do I have do install Eclipse from source to get JUnit4 support?

can you perhaps attach a debian/rules file for building eclipse with java-*-sun? So one can at least get some *.deb packages to install.

You can get the junit 4 working by downloading the jar and installing it in the build path as a new library.

Actually, that didn't really fix the problem. See http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=343029

    - Move eclipse-source from eclipse's Depends to Suggests. LP: #67862
  * Commented out icedtea in debian/extra/java_home, since it doesn't work
and makes eclipse not start if the user has icedtea installed.

Pardon the ignorance here (I'm brand new to working with ubuntu) but where can I find projected ship dates of packages? When can I expect the above package to appear on my system if I already have eclipse (e.2.2-3ubuntu1) installed?

I think this issue is related but I cannot tell if it is the same bug. The status of the JDT plug-in in Eclipse 3.2.2 (default in Jaunty) is:

Plug-in "org.eclipse.jdt.junit4.runtime" version "0.0.0" referenced by this feature is missing.

Please let me know whether I should submit a new bug for this issue.

This issue still exists in Jaunty. Plug-in "org.eclipse.jdt.junit4.runtime" version "0.0.0" referenced by this feature is missing. when installing Eclipse on a new Ubuntu 9.04 installation. I would be nice to get a fix without hacking the program.
