Binary package hint: compiz

I've been running natty for several weeks. After upgrading to compiz 1:0.9.2.1+glibmainloop3-0ubuntu2 just now when I login the unity panel and launcher do not start. Compiz starts, 'ctrl+alt+t' will launch a terminal, and I see icons on my desktop so nautilus starts. I also run a small gnome-panel (with just a launcher, hamster-applet, sensors-applet, netspeed, multiload applet, weather applet and nothing else), and it starts. This configuration has worked fine for several days until today's update.

right, but there was some gconf configuration path change and maybe you didn't refresh them all when you stay on the same profile.

The easiest way to get that reset is to unity --reset

This somewhat worked. Compiz crashed but afterward restarting things seemed ok.

  * debian/patches/080_migrate_gconf_from_alpha1.patch,
  debian/reset-compiz-gconf,
  debian/compiz-gnome.install:
  - temporary wrapper from new gconf path not transitionned from alpha1
    (allscreens became screen0). This will reset the current compiz profiles
    (LP: #690011)
