Bug Description

Binary package hint: nautilus

The newest update of nautilus (version 2.32.2.1-0ubuntu4) crashes every time I move mouse cursor on it.
Also if I have files on the desktop, their icons flicker when panel is touched.
This happens on my 64-bit architecture, fully updated Natty-alfa1 with Nvidia-current driver.
I use Gnome-Classic Desktop without Compiz.

Downgrading to previous version (2.32.2.1-0ubuntu3) of Nautilus solves this issue.

If I open nautilus in terminal, the crash does not leave any error reports.

Thanks for reporting this bug and help to make ubuntu better.

I can't reproduce this particular crash use case. There is another one I'll fix next Monday hopefully. Can you please enable apport (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Apport) and then attach the crash with apport-collect? Thanks

I do not have apport installed.
It is easy to reproduce, as Nautilus crashes every time.
But it may be due to the fact I do not have unity-complex nor compiz installed.

What is this:
"- lower the margin to a more acceptable value
    - only add the margin when unity is loading.
NOTE!: Detecting it dynamically if
      it's unloaded/reloaded"

The previous Nautilus version does not have this bug.
If I "sudo dpkg - ***-0ubuntu3), the issue is gone.

I still can't reproduce it, even without the unity session.
The idea is to fit the user workarea screen depending on the session.

Can you install apport or giving manually a backtrace if you don't feel like installing it?

OK Didier, here is how you can reproduce this bug.
I did more searching on it.

In fact Nautilus_2.32.2.1-0ubuntu4 does not crash when I move mouse cursor on it.
It crashes when I move my mouse cursor on my side panel (which set to autohide) and at the same time icons on the desktop flicker.
If I remove the autohide option from the panel, Nautilus does not crash anymore nor do the icons flicker.

So it is this autohide function of a panel that crashes Nautilus, every time mouse cursor wakes the panel.

Perhaps this new feature of dynamically detecting workarea depending on session makes Nautilus crash when an autohidden panel unhides itself (with the mouse cursor movement on it).
Anyway the previous Nautilus version does not have this bug.
